Many patients who seek a facelift to address facial sagging worry about noticeable incisions and unsightly scars. This concern is often overblown.
In terms of incision design, I consider the patient's facial contours and hair distribution to conceal the incision in discreet locations. These locations conceal the incision, making it difficult to detect without careful observation after surgery.
Men with short hair, for example, don't need to worry about this. Regarding surgical procedures, we carefully lift and reposition the deep facial tissues, maintain near-zero tension on the incision, and perform meticulous sutures to reduce tension. This minimizes the risk of unsightly scars caused by excessive tension.
Typically, three months after surgery, the incision will gradually fade, eventually becoming a thin, inconspicuous line that is barely noticeable without close inspection.
However, incision recovery also depends on individual physical condition. Some individuals prone to scarring require thorough consultation with their doctor before surgery. Scar creams or scar treatments can also be used to assist with incision healing and minimize scarring.
As long as you choose a reputable medical institution, an experienced doctor, and provide excellent postoperative care, the likelihood of noticeable scarring from a facelift will be significantly reduced.
